If you love spending time outdoors on your patio, but find the bugs or hot summer sun to be a real nuisance, a retractable patio screen can solve those problems while adding some style to your outdoor living space.

What are the requirements to install retractable screens?

Choosing the right location for your retractable screen is really the only requirement needed before your new retractable screen is installed. Finding a spot that’s not too close to any doors or windows is essential, as screens need space to open and close properly. However, some retractable screens can span up to twenty feet, therefore you won’t need as many columns.  You should also avoid areas where there might be a lot of foot traffic, as the screen can be damaged if it’s constantly being walked on. If you notice any uneveness from your posts or cracks before Garden State Shade experts install your new screen, those can be filled with wood filler if you would like to do so.

What is the typical installation process for retractable screens?

Our experts will measure the opening of your choice for exact dimensions and trim out the area where the screen will be installed. We will then decide which side the motor will work the best. From there we will order your screen!

Once your screen is received, we will mount the brackets to the header trim and drill a hole for the electrical cable. After the motor is locked into the unit we will place the assembled screen into the mounting brackets. Rollers then have to be inserted into the tracks and those tracks are screwed into the jambs. Finally, the system is plugged into the dedicated outlet and tested.

And that’s it! You now get to enjoy your outdoor space. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us today.
