What are the installation requirements to install retractable screens?
Choosing the proper installation method is critical for the best use of your retractable screen. Pre-construction applications have the benefit of being able to build around or hide the retractable screen components, but many screen jobs are installed post-construction. So it’s important to understand the pros and cons to installing in different ways. Screens will typically be installed three different ways: 1) exterior fascia, 2) interior fascia, 3) trapped mount (between the columns). the tracks will be attached to the columns/house to create a protected area. Every application is unique and it takes some foresight in the planning stages to ensure the most efficient and practical arrangement.
What are the size restrictions with retractable screens?
Most retractable screen units will be around 10 to 12 feet wide. That’s common for the standard spacing between columns of a covered deck or patio. Although it’s not out of the ordinary for some larger residential retractable screens spans to be as much as 20 feet. There are different size housings (where the fabric rolls into) to accommodate larger sizes. Our housings range from 4 inches to 7″ inches depending on the opening size. We even offer a commercial motorized retractable screen that can span up to 46 feet!
